Dear Parents

Welcome to week three with grade 2-I. If you haven’t had the chance yet, I would like to ask you to please get your child an A-4 clear holder. The reason for this is to help the students learn good organizational skills which will help with their learning. Returned homework from each subject will have a pocket, and other papers will also be organized according to subject. This will also allow you, the parent, to easily see what your children have done, and help them review for exams.

Math this week will continue to be a foundation/ review week. We will work on understanding place value, which is a key skill for more advanced functions. Then we will look at expanded form, and different ways in which numbers can be written, as well as the different names for numbers. On Friday, we will take our first math quiz. This will just be a quick check, and is not something students need to study for.

Our social studies topic will carry on from last week and is ‘community’. Our class will be making an ABS community wall and we will continue to build up all the aspects that make ABS a community this week.

Creative writing will see us reading the story, ‘My Father’s Dragon’, and working from our books on words with the short ‘a’ sound.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have via the homework books, or in person. I’ll do my best to help.
